Woman Rescues Hairless Puppy Covered In Mysterious Dye

When rescuers first spotted the tiny, shivering puppy on the streets, they could hardly believe their eyes. The young dog was completely hairless, his delicate skin stained with an unnatural shade of blue. Weak and malnourished, he seemed barely able to stand. What had happened to him? Who had covered him in dye? And more importantly—could he be saved? This is the remarkable story of Prince, the resilient puppy who overcame the odds to find a loving home.

A Startling Discovery At A High-Risk Shelter

In April, a haunting image made its way across social media — a tiny, hairless puppy covered in unusual purple markings. Neda Saghafi, founder of Simba’s Paw Dog Rescue, couldn’t look away. The puppy had been picked up as a stray and placed in a high-kill shelter in Fresno, California, where dogs with severe medical issues often face an uncertain fate. His fragile body, already scarred by a severe case of mange, was also painted with bizarre purple streaks. Saghafi felt an immediate connection, a gut instinct that she had to act quickly to save him. Without hesitation, she arranged to pull him from the shelter, not yet knowing the full extent of his condition — or how deeply he would impact her life.

First Impressions And The Mystery Of The Purple Dye

When Saghafi first saw the puppy, she was struck not just by his emaciated frame, but by the strange purple dye that covered parts of his skin. Initially, she feared the worst — that the markings were the work of cruel hands. In some cases, street dogs are spray-painted for cruel baiting games, where gamblers place bets on which helpless puppy will survive a dogfight. The thought was chilling, but Saghafi was determined to unravel the truth. After rushing him to a veterinarian, she learned that the markings were likely from an outdated livestock medication — a product used to treat infections in farm animals like cattle and chickens. The discovery raised more questions than answers, but the priority was clear: saving his life.
