Woman Comes Out As “Abrosexual” After 30 Years Of Confusion About Her Identity

Emma Flint, a 32-year-old journalist from the United Kingdom, has come forward to share her experience of discovering her abrosexual identity after three decades of confusion and uncertainty. Abrosexuality — a relatively lesser-known sexual orientation — refers to an identity that fluctuates over time, meaning a person’s sexual attraction and orientation can shift from one preference to another.

Discovering A Long-Overdue Truth

For Emma, growing up in the 1990s meant her exposure to sexual identities was limited to traditional categories like straight, gay, or lesbian. The concept of fluidity in s*xual attraction wasn’t something openly discussed, leaving Emma to struggle with labels that never quite fit. It wasn’t until she encountered the term “abrosexual” at the age of 30 that everything clicked into place, offering her both relief and clarity about her fluctuating attractions.

Facing Backlash And Skepticism from Friends

Emma’s decision to come out as abrosexual was met with mixed reactions, particularly from her friends, some of whom harshly questioned the validity of her identity. Instead of receiving support, Emma faced skepticism and dismissive remarks, with some friends openly doubting whether abrosexuality was even a real identity.

“When I first told my friends that I’m abrosexual, I got so many hurtful comments from them,” Emma recalled. This lack of acceptance and understanding ultimately led her to cut ties with some individuals who could not support her. Despite this, she has found that being open about her identity — even in the face of criticism — has given her newfound confidence in embracing her authentic self, proving that surrounding oneself with supportive people is crucial when navigating personal discoveries.
