“We started dating in college, and that’s simple because you’re at the same place. You take for granted how close you are to your significant other,” Reid shared in a February 2024 interview with the Phoenix Suns. She also noted that after her career-ending surgery in 2020, they could finally spend more time together. “There’s always silver linings,” she added. The couple married in 2022 and welcomed their first child, daughter Emslie May, in October 2024.

Allen and Reid’s story began at Duke, where they met as freshmen in 2014. Although they became close friends early on, their romance didn’t start until their senior year.

“We were best friends since freshman year, and I had this feeling that you might have liked me,” Reid recalled to Allen in a 2022 interview with Whistle Sports. She added that their first kiss happened in her apartment during senior year.

Reid majored in evolutionary anthropology and anatomy while excelling on the soccer field, and Allen studied psychology while starring on the basketball court. Both were drafted into professional leagues after graduating in 2018.
