A 53-year-old Russian tourist, Olga Perminova, tragically died in Sri Lanka after attempting to take a selfie from a moving train. The incident occurred on February 19, 2025, while she was traveling on the Podi Menike train route, renowned for its scenic views.


Perminova leaned out of the carriage to capture a photo and collided with a rock, leading to severe head injuries. Despite receiving emergency medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries at Badulla Teaching Hospital.

Perminova was part of a Russian tour group, and arrangements are being made to repatriate her body. This tragic event underscores the dangers associated with taking photographs in unsafe conditions.
