A high school teacher in Queensland has been accused of bizarre behavior in the classroom after students claimed she “identifies as a cat.” The teacher, who works at Marsden State High School in Waterford West, has been reportedly seen hissing at students and licking the back of their hands during lessons.

Photos obtained by the Courier Mail show the teacher wearing a black and white cat ear headband both in class and during school assemblies. Students allege that the teacher requested to be addressed as “Miss Purr” and wears a lanyard that displays the word “purr.”

One student’s relative spoke out, claiming that the teacher hissed at the student when they didn’t answer a question or pay attention in class. They also described the teacher licking her hands, calling it “absolutely disgusting” and urging for action to be taken.

The situation has caused concern among some parents and students, who are questioning whether such behavior is appropriate for the classroom environment.
