A 29-year-old Seattle mother has been taken into custody by police after her 14-year-old son was found unresponsive in their home.

According to the Seattle Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call at a residence in the 4000 block of 14th Avenue South. Upon arrival, they found the teenage boy unresponsive.

The mother allegedly told investigators that she had used an extension cord to discipline her son, who had failed to complete his chores. Police have not released further details about the incident.

The boy was rushed to a local hospital, where his condition is currently unknown.
The mother has been booked into the King County Jail, and the case is currently under investigation by SPD’s Crime Investigators.
