Experts and academics warn that excessive reliance on artificial intelligence (AI) in education and research may weaken critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. While AI tools can streamline data analysis and learning, overdependence can hinder students’ ability to conduct independent research and complete assignments without technological assistance.

Dr. Abdullah Hamad al-Muraikhi from Qatar University emphasized that AI should support, not replace, traditional learning methods. He called for updated teaching strategies and ethical guidelines to ensure responsible AI use while maintaining core educational values like integrity, respect, and self-confidence.

Similarly, cybersecurity expert Dr. Khaled Waleed Mahmoud highlighted AI’s benefits in advancing research but cautioned that it could lead to academic integrity issues and diminished cognitive skills. Experts stress the need for balanced AI integration, ensuring technology complements rather than replaces human expertise in education and research.
