An official photograph released of the newborn shows her wrapped in a blanket with her hand covering her face, likely to maintain privacy. Her father, Edoardo, shared his joy on social media, calling Athena “tiny and absolutely perfect,” while her grandmother, Sarah, Duchess of York, expressed her happiness, saying she felt “blessed” to be a grandmother again. Athena is now 11th in line to the British throne.

Royal Family’s Reaction

King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other members of the Royal Family expressed their delight at Athena’s safe arrival. Beatrice had originally planned to spend Christmas abroad with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s family, but after receiving medical advice in December to avoid long-distance travel, she instead celebrated with the Royal Family at Sandringham.

“We welcomed Baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her,” Edo wrote on Instagram.

Athena’s Full Name and Family Life

Buckingham Palace confirmed Athena’s full name as Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. Beatrice, 36, and her newborn are said to be doing well, spending time with Athena’s siblings—Wolfie, Edoardo’s son from a previous relationship, and Sienna, their first daughter born in 2021. The couple also expressed their gratitude to the hospital staff for their excellent care.
