In June 2023, a man named Wayne Simpson, 56, from Sunderland, England, had a surprising and frustrating experience. He had just bought a Big Mac from a McDonald’s in South Shields, a town near his home, and was ready to take his first bite. Suddenly, a seagull swooped down from the sky and snatched the burger right out of his hands! Wayne was shocked and upset—he didn’t even get to taste his meal. He decided to demand a full refund from McDonald’s, saying it wasn’t his fault the burger was gone.
Wayne was standing outside the McDonald’s on King Street when it happened. He told a local newspaper, The Sunderland Echo, that seagulls are becoming a big problem in the area. He said they steal food from people all the time, and he’s not the only one who’s had this happen. Wayne thinks McDonald’s should give him his money back because he couldn’t eat what he paid for. He also wrote an email to South Tyneside Council, asking them to do something about the bold birds, like putting up nets or a roof over the street to stop the attacks.
