Living with Fear and Uncertainty
The experience has left Ian deeply anxious, especially about sneezing again in the future.
“It was a pretty hard sneeze, but I’ve never experienced anything like this before. I never even thought this could happen,” he said. “Now I’m scared to sneeze. My wife is eight months pregnant, and I want to be there for the delivery.”
Family Support and Fundraiser
Ian’s sister, Vanessa Applegate, has launched a GoFundMe to help the family cover mounting medical bills and time off work. The fundraiser has already raised over $10,900.
In updates shared on the page, Vanessa said Ian is “miserable” but working incredibly hard to recover.
Hope for the Future
Ian remains focused on his goal of being home in time to welcome his baby girl.
“I know I’m going to struggle to take care of myself and the baby,” Ian admitted. “I just want to be home for her birth. I’m trying to stay positive and keep up with my exercises until I get better.”
