Influencer Bitten by Shark While Filming in the Maldives

Russian social media influencer and singer Nastya Vitonova experienced a harrowing incident while swimming with sharks off the coast of the Maldives. During the excursion, a shark bit her hand, leading to a severe injury.

Initially, Vitonova appeared composed, even smiling and stating, “I got bitten by a shark.” However, as the shock subsided, she became visibly distressed, expressing concerns about potential blood poisoning.

Fellow influencer Isabelle Zagfarova, who accompanied Vitonova, provided immediate support, reassuring her that the primary concern was the possibility of losing a finger, not infection. The tour guide promptly transported the duo to the nearest island, where Vitonova received medical attention, including disinfection and stitches for her wound.

Reflecting on the event, Vitonova recounted: “A couple of seconds later, a shark bit my hand. It held me for two or three seconds, and all the worst scenarios started running through my head.” Despite the initial panic, she managed to remain composed, noting that her initial laughter was a hysterical, defensive reaction.

This incident is not isolated; similar events have occurred in the Maldives. For instance, Elena Boyko, 44, was bitten on the hand during a guided “swim with sharks” excursion. These attacks are believed to involve nurse sharks, which are commonly encountered by tourists in the region.
