In December 2022, two sailors named Matt Rutherford and Hunter Rogers had a spooky experience near the Bermuda Triangle, a mysterious area in the Atlantic Ocean known for strange disappearances. They were working with the Ocean Research Project, sailing about 800 miles east of Bermuda, when they saw something odd—a yacht floating all alone with no one on board. This empty boat, called a “ghost ship,” gave them chills because it looked abandoned and lost in the middle of the sea.

Matt, who’s sailed a lot and even set records for long solo trips, wasn’t scared at first. He and Hunter got closer to check it out. The yacht, named Swan 48 Taipan, was in rough shape—its sails were torn, and it was drifting aimlessly. Matt climbed onto the boat to see if anyone was hurt or hiding, but it was completely empty. They filmed the creepy moment, showing the silent, messy deck with ropes and gear scattered around. The video later spread online, making people curious and a little freaked out.
