Doctor’s Wife Dies Days After Giving Birth in His Arms

Days after giving birth to their second son, Caitlyn Wilson tragically passed away due to childbirth complications. Her husband, Dr. Jared Wilson, an anesthesiologist resident at the hospital, never imagined that he would only be able to bring one of them home after Caitlyn’s hospital admission on December 12 for her scheduled induction.

That night, everything appeared to be going smoothly. Caitlyn received her epidural at 1 a.m. and her water was broken shortly after. However, complications arose when her baby’s arm was positioned improperly, resulting in an umbilical cord prolapse — a life-threatening condition for the baby. The medical team quickly performed an emergency C-section, and their son, Gabriel, was born healthy and crying.
